Biochar is a charcoal-like substance rich in stable carbon. It's created by heating biomass without oxygen. Rather than releasing CO2, it stores carbon as biomass for up to 1000 years while improving soil health.

Biochar is made from leftover crops and organic waste. It's like charcoal but better.

When you put biochar in the ground it stores carbon for a very long time, making the soil richer.

In fact, biochar keeps carbon from going back into the air for about 1000 years. That’s much more than trees, which only trap carbon for 60 years.
